As a part-time library science master’s student, Shannon has acquired professional experience related to libraries and archives over the past several years, both as a volunteer and as an employee or consultant.
Public Libraries
As a student, volunteer and a consultant (at different times), she has worked on marketing and digital projects for the Somerville Public Library, using the library as a focus of some of her scholarly work and writing a request for proposal for a website redesign.

As a consultant acting as Communications Director, Shannon developed the website for The Creative Aging Toolkit for Public Libraries for Lifetime Arts, Inc., a project that was designed to disseminate information to public librarians in the U.S. about their successful, proven fine arts programs for adults 50+.
Academic Libraries
As a consultant, Shannon developed a communications and marketing plan for the Tisch Library at Tufts University and also wrote and designed an annual report to the University’s senior administration on the library’s activities and effectiveness.
Presidential Archives
While at the JFK Library Foundation, Shannon led enterprise digital projects and strategy including managing the day-to-day operations of jfklibrary.org, producing and launching the JFK Challenge App for Kids, and preparing the Foundation, Library and Museum for a website redesign through research, the writing of a digital strategy and request for proposal.
